Photo of Ms. Schmidt Ms. Schmidt is a staff scientist in the Section on Neuroadaptation and Protein Metabolism in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She received her M.A. in mathematics from the University of Maryland where she studied numerical linear algebra with G.W. Stewart. She joined the Laboratory of Cerebral Metabolism, NIMH in 1983 to work with Louis Sokoloff on quantitative in vivo imaging techniques. Ms. Schmidt’s current work centers on the development and analysis of kinetic models of tracers used for the measurement of regional cerebral blood flow, glucose metabolism, and protein synthesis by Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and quantitative autoradiographic techniques.
