Photo of Dr. Qin Dr. Qin is a senior research fellow in the Section on Neuroadaptation and Protein Metabolism in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Qin received her M.D. in 1986 from Harbin Medical University in China. In 1999 she received a Ph.D. in medical science from Shanghai Medical University (now Medical Center of Fudan University) for her work on protective effects of mild hypothermia and/or magnesium sulfate or Felbamate on hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in newborns. Dr. Qin joined the Laboratory of Cerebral Metabolism, NIMH in 2000 to work with Carolyn Beebe Smith on fragile X syndrome. Currently she is studying a genetic mouse model of the fragile X premutation.
