Donald L. Rosenstein, M.D.
Donald Rosenstein Photo Dr. Rosenstein graduated from Wesleyan University, received his M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School, and completed his psychiatric residency training at Yale University. In 1991, he began a clinical research fellowship in the Biological Psychiatry Branch at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). He was appointed Chief of the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center in 1995, NIMH Residency and Fellowship Training Director in 1997, and Deputy Clinical Director, NIMH in 2000. He began serving as the Acting Clinical Director for the NIMH IRP in 2005. 
Research Interests
As Chief of the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service, Dr. Rosenstein provides direct patient care to NIH research subjects and conducts clinical research. His clinical expertise includes the psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment of psychiatric disorders in the medically ill and the prevention, recognition and management of drug-drug interactions. Dr. Rosenstein's research employs magnetic resonance spectroscopy in the study of delirium and medication-induced central nervous system toxicity. In addition to his clinical and research activities, Dr. Rosenstein Chairs both the NIMH Institutional Review Board and the NIH Clinical Center Ethics Committee. His scholarly work in bioethics is focused on ethical aspects of psychiatric research and professional integrity in clinical research.
