The
NIMH, Intramural Fellowship Training
Program, located in the Office of the Director
(OD), is headed by Barry
B. Kaplan, Ph.D., Director for Fellowship
Training.
Prior to coming to NIMH in 1997, Dr. Kaplan served as
Professor and Director, Molecular Neurobiology and Genetics
Program, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University
of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA. As senior
administrator, Dr. Kaplan is charged with the development
and oversight of DIRP's integrated multidisciplinary
training program and with providing administrative support
and resources for all training-related activities.

Margarita
came to the NIMH with international and domestic educational
administration experience. She joined the NIMH Intramural
Program in 1996 just as the DIRP Office of Fellowship Training
was established. Prior to joining the government workforce,
she graduated from a Masters Program in Higher Educational
Administration from the Ohio State University and worked
with an Educational Program for the United States Agency
for International Development (USAID) and the Government
of Indonesia. Her community organizing experience, as
a professional and volunteer, includes time with a Central
American Development project and with the Washington
DC Council of Latino Agencies, Latino Task Force and
the Mount Pleasant Festival.

Aneka came to the Office of Fellowship Training in December of 2011. Prior to coming to the NIMH, she attended the University of Maryland-College Park, where she obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry. Aneka has a fondness for the science field but also has interest in health science administration, which was her primary reason for joining the NIMH Intramural Program. She provides a broad range of administrative and resource support for the institute, fellows, summer students and various programs held by the office. In the near future, she intends to pursue a Masters Degree in Public Health.

Richard Doucette
Program Specialist |

|
Richard Doucette came to the Office of Fellowship Training in March of 2009 to assist with the Visiting Program and the visa and immigration issues that involve fellows and staff in that program. Richard joined the NIMH Intramural Program in 2001, first as a Program Assistant with the Scientific and Statistical Computing Core and then as an Administrative Program Manager with the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program. Prior to his government service, he worked in insurance, sales, marketing, and advertising with Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Maintenance Warehouse. Richard has a B.A. in Managerial Relations from the Catholic University of America.
