Kamil Ugurbil holds the McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair of Radiology at the University of Minnesota and is the Director of the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research. He is also a Professor in the Departments of Radiology, Neurosciences, and Medicine. His work on high specificity and high resolution mapping of brain function using MR methods and ultra high magnetic fields has been crucial for understanding brain connectivity and its implications for mental disorders. Dr. Ugurbil’s research focuses on the development of ultrahigh field magnetic resonance methodology for MR imaging and spectroscopy, especially in the brain and in cardiac bioenergetics. A member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Ugurbil has published over 200 articles and has served on numerous scientific and editorial boards. He has received funding from both federal and non-federal sources.
