Matthew State, M.D., Ph.D.
    Matthew State is the Donald J. Cohen Professor in Child Psychiatry and Professor of Genetics and of Psychiatry. He also serves as Co-Director for the Yale Program on Neurogenetics and Deputy Chairman for Research, Department of Psychiatry, at the Yale School of Medicine. Board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. State has done pioneering work on Tourette syndrome and autism. Dr. State’s research focuses on identifying and characterizing genes and genetic mechanisms involved in neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood. These include Tourette syndrome (TS), Obsessive Compulsive disorder (OCD), autism and related pervasive developmental disorders, childhood onset schizophrenia and structural brain disorders. Dr. State has received funding from federal and non-federal sources, published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals, and has served on a number of scientific and editorial boards.
