Office of the Scientific Director (OSD) - BSC Counselor Peter MacLeish, Ph.D.     Dr. Peter MacLeish is a Professor and Director of the Neuroscience Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine. He is a renowned expert on signal processing in the brain, which is crucial for understanding the pathophysiology of mental disorders. Elected a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. MacLeish’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of vision, and understanding the functional organization of vertebrate rods and cones using single, isolated cells from the adult to study functional components such as phototransduction and signal processing. Dr. MacLeish has received funding from a variety of federal and non-federal sources, and has served on numerous editorial and scientific boards. He has published articles in the top scientific journals, such as Science, PNAS, and the Journal of Neuroscience.
