Dr. Sanjay Telu, graduated with his BSc (1997) and MSc in Chemistry, specialization- Organic (1999) from Osmania University ( Hyderabad, India). He received his PhD from the University of Akron in 2006 where he worked under the supervision of Dr. Gerald F. Koser. His doctoral research involved the applications of hypervalent iodine reagents in the activation of the C-H bond of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and thiophenes and the kinetic study of the acidity of cyclic iodonium salts. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow (2007-2008) at the University of Iowa, where he explored new efficient methods for the synthesis of hindered polychlorinated biphenyls, fluorinated diaryl iodonium salts, fluorescent probes and NMR-based metabolomic studies. He joined the PET radiochemistry group in June, 2008 and his current research focuses on the design and synthesis of dual ligands (PET-Fluorescent probes) for the Peripheral type Benzodiazepine Receptors (PBR).
