Dr. Xiaofeng Bao is a Postdoctoral Fellow (since April 2008). He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in 1999 and 2002 from Nanjing University of Science & Technology (Nanjing, China) in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Bao did graduate study in Chemical Engineering at The University of Illinois at Chicago in 2003, and obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry under the guidance of Professor David B. Smithrud from the University of Cincinnati in 2007 (Cincinnati, OH). Before joining NIMH he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at The Ohio State University Medical Center for ten months. His previous research areas include the synthesis of host-rotaxanes as protein mimics and drug delivery agents, and the synthesis of fluoresceinated nitrone compounds for EPR. His current efforts are focused on the synthesis of radiotracers for PET imaging of efflux pumps.
