James Blair, Ph.D.

       James Blair, Ph.D. is Chief of the Unit, Unit on Affective Cognitive Neuroscience in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program of the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research Program. Dr. Blair joined the NIMH in April, 2002 having been a researcher and then faculty at the Medical Research Council Cognitive Development Unit, the Department of Psychology and the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London. His areas of expertise involve emotional regulation of behavior with specific reference to the disorders of psychopathy and acquired sociopathy as well as understanding the development of morality. Dr. Blair has received several awards, including grants and training fellowships from the Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council, the Home Office, and the National Health Service.
