Rezvan Ameli, Ph.D.
Rezvan Ameli, Ph.D. is the Chief Psychologist and Director of Clinical Training for the Mood and anxiety Disorders Program at NIMH. She provides clinical services, training, and research collaboration. Born and raised in Iran and an honor student from Tehran University, Dr. Ameli came to the United States in 1979. She completed her graduate studies in the United States. Since obtaining her doctorate in 1986, Dr. Ameli has been actively involved in provision of clinical services, teaching, and research. In addition to years of clinical experience working with various age and diagnostic groups, she developed, directed, and participated in several clinical programs at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT; Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT; and Masonic Geriatric HealthCare Center, Wallingford, Ct. She has held academic positions as an Assistant Professor at Yale University, University of Connecticut, and most recently at Howard University. She provided consultations and served as an Instructor in the
Department of Internal Medicine at Yale University for the Sleep Disorders Clinic, Yale University. Dr. Ameli is trained as a cognitive behavior therapist (CBT) and is certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. One of her areas of expertise and interest also involves the use of Mindfulness based approaches to promote health/mental health. She provides training in use and integration of Mindfulness to day-to-day living to reduce stress for NIH employees through R&W.
